A Level English Language

This course builds on the study of English Language at GCSE as students develop an interest and enjoyment of the English Language through reading widely across time and genre. Students will be presented with opportunities to expand on their creative writing skills, as they write for a variety of audiences and genres.

Units will allow students to explore modern and older texts with a similar theme or topic and analyse the development of children’s language and develop their own language investigation with a piece of their own original writing and commentary.

English Language is widely accepted by universities as an entrance qualification for those wishing to read English or other related subjects. It also develops higher level analytical skills which are useful in a wide range of university courses and careers.
