A Level Sociology

Sociology is the study of society. Sociologists are interested in the interaction that takes place between groups and individuals within and contrasting with other societies. They offer theories that provide explanations for the way in which we as individuals can shape society and the impact society has upon the individual.  

You will develop a breadth of skills and knowledge to provide you with a foundation for successful further study or employment.

Sociology is a well-respected discipline with a long history. It’s useful for a range of different Higher Education courses and/or careers including Politics, Social Policy, History, Social Work, Counselling, Nursing, Law, the Police Force, Journalism, Teaching, Media, Business and Youth Work to name a few. 

Enrichment

During your two years studying A level Sociology, there will be opportunities to visit the Combined Criminal courts.

There will also be chances to hear from a variety of interesting guest speakers, including local Magistrates from the court.
