
This course builds on the study of English Literature at GCSE, as you develop an interest and enjoyment of English Literature through reading widely, critically and independently, across time and genre.
Units will provide students with the opportunity to study poetry, Shakespeare, prose, and create their own critical study of two texts of their choice. The course covers older and contemporary texts to provide you with a full picture of literature through the ages.

Careers
English literature is widely accepted by universities as a facilitating subject and an entrance qualification for those wishing to read English or other related subjects . It will also develop higher level analytical skills which will be transferable on a range of university courses and careers.
Enrichment
Students will have the opportunity to see live performances of the plays studied (depending on availability), as well as attending a trip to tour the Globe Theatre and explore the city of London to enhance their understanding of life in Elizabethan England.
